WATERPROOFING SYSTEM FOR POURED ASPHALT

Waterproofing under poured/mastic asphalt (Gussasphalt) has a long tradition. The innovative Sherwin-Williams sealing system combines proven products with a modified hot melt adhesive granulate, providing a reliable seal with a dampening effect for long-term protection of orthotropic steel plates.

The hot melt adhesive granulate is applied onto the primer as an adhesive layer. During asphalting, this adhesive layer is exposed to temperatures around 180°C-250°C, causing the adhesive granulate to melt and expand. This creates a damping system with excellent adhesion to the bituminous mastic, resulting in an extremely strong layer bond and excellent shear resistance. This coating is utilized for various applications including bridge decks, footpaths, sidewalks, cycle paths, carriageways, railway bridges, curbs, and the interior of ballast chutes, offering a thin, wear-resistant, mechanically and chemically resistant corrosion protection system that creates surfaces with slopes to facilitate water drainage.
